![]() Nearby: ParksIn addition to Sixty-01's own system of trails, walkways, and vast expanses of carefully maintained lawns, Sixty-01 is within walking distance to Bridle Trails State Park (4 blocks west); Grass Lawn Community Park (2 blocks east); and a short drive to Marymoore Park (2 miles). Grass Lawn Community Park (Location: 7031 148 Ave NE) is one of the City of Redmond's two premier parks. It's 28.5 acres have plenty of public amenities: lighted tennis courts, baseball/softball fields, a state-of-the-art soccer field, basketball courts, picnic shelter and tables, children's play areas, paved fitness trail/court, walking trail, recreation building, public art, restrooms and parking. In 2003, its soccer field was totally rebuilt to best-of-class championship-grade level. Bridle Trails State Park (automobile entrance at N.E. 53rd and 116th Avenue N.E.) has facilities specifcally for horse enthusiasts. This 462-acre Washington State Park sports well-maintained horseback riding trails in a forest environment. Other amenities are 30 tables, two stoves, 12 hose bibbs, three drinking fountains, four BBQ, one comfort station, 28 miles of trails and 900 feet of road. Activities are horseback riding, horse shoes, picnicking, jogging, bird watching and walking. There is a large arena, paddock and warm-up ring, warm-up jump area, food service building (used only during horse shows), a grandstand and judge's stand. (For a Trail Map, click here.) Marymoor Park is the most popular park in the King County Park System. More than 3 million people visit this 640-acre park each year. 'Concerts at Marymoor' offers open-air music concerts all summer long. There is an Olympic caliber velodrome, a man-made rock climbing obelisk, off-leash dog excercising area, model airplane flying field; soccer, lacrosse, and baseball fields; tennis courts, picnicking, gardening,fishing, walking, bird watching and nature tours – and with a children's play area that sports a rocking dinosaur! Redmond Derby Days features a Bicycle Derby that is now the longest running bicycle race in the nation, celebrating its 68th year in 2008! It may be because of Redmond's love for bicycles that the city also sports the Marymoor Velodrome, the only facility of its kind in Washington State and used during the 1990 Goodwill Games. Speaking of national records, the Climbing Rock, standing 45 feet high, is one of the tallest freestanding climbing structures in the United States. It has built-in protection for lead rope climbing on routes ranging from an easy 5.5 to a difficult 5.12. At the heart of Marymoor Park is the historic Willowmoor Farm, which includes the Clise Mansion and a windmill. Willowmoor Farm is listed in the National Register of Historic Places.
